NCN route 63 marker, but no dropped kerb,

There are plenty of cyclists at the Grainstore pub-brewery by Oakham station, but no formal cycle parking at all.

No Parking for Cyclists sign - what I think it means is no parking of cars used to bring bikes to Rutland Water.

North end of the diverted section of the cycle route around Rutland Water - gates AND pointless Cyclists Dismount signs!

Barriers AND Cyclists Dismount signs to cross the entry to the Rutland Water Garden Centre

Perhaps the Cyclists Dismount sign is for cyclists going in the other direction, but it's still one of those negative things that make cycling seem dangerous and complicated.

Slow - Steep Hill! Are you wearing your helmet? The sort of nonense you get when a water company builds cycle infrastructure.

Gates and Cyclists Dismount sign to cross a very minor dead-end road. Ridiculou, but that's what happens when cycle routes are installed by a water company.

To get back onto the cycle track we had to cycle the wrong way along this one-way road.

Cattle grid - another absurd reason to tell cylists to dismount. What happens when a water company creates cycle infratrusture.

There are too many gatea on NCN route 63 by Rutland Water

Signs for NCN route 63 are rare along Rutland Water

Steep hill - Slow! Are you wearing your helmet? - One of many annoying signs around Rutland Water - what you get when cycle routes are designed by a water company.

Steep hill, cyclists dismount - the first of many annoying signs about dismounting and helmets. This is what happens when cycle routes are designed by a water company.

Cycle parking at the Rutland Water Nature Reserve visitor centre - installed so that only one side is useable (because of course leaving space for motor vehicles is more important)

Covered wheel benders from yesteryear at Oakham railway station.

A lovely cycle track from Ryhall towards Stamford. Which stops dead at the county boundary, a significant way short of the 30mph limit and with no safe way to cross the road - well done Rutland, shame on Lincolshire!
